Epsom Salts For BIG Flowers!

Magnesium sulfate (a.k.a. Epsom salts) is an element used to increase flower size. Epsom salts is not a fertilizer but rather is used as a supplement with the fertilization program currently in use.

I normally like to use Epsom salts on rose bushes at a scientific rate of a small handful (no more than a 1/4 cup) on the first day of Spring, Summer and Fall.

For bedding plants, 'salt' the area after planting sets one time and a second about mid-season. For seeded planter beds, wait until plants are 3-4" tall then 'salt' as just mentioned. No need to mix Epsom salts in the soil, just throw it on top then water in.

Don't forget to leave a little Epsom salts behind for an after-hours project. Get a bucket of warm water, add 1/4 cup of Epsom salts then slip those stinky tootsies in the bucket and soak those tired dogs for about 15-20 minutes. You won't get bigger feet, just relief from a hard day in the garden!
